Our solutions

From renewable generation to market value

Renewable electricity certificates — I-REC(E)

We support producers in preparing, registering and marketing the renewable attributes of their electricity, in coordination with the competent bodies.

  • Analysis of facility rights and eligibility
  • Coordination of registration and issuance
  • Commercial development, transfer and redemption of certificates

Impact renewable certificates — P-REC

We identify opportunities to value renewable electricity in fragile or conflict-affected regions, subject to the eligibility and certification criteria of the P-REC label.

Climate and energy investments

We identify and structure opportunities in renewable energy, energy infrastructure and African environmental assets, and seek suitable financial partners.

  1. Generation

    A renewable plant generates electricity.

  2. Data and eligibility

Generation data and attribute rights are verified.

  3. Issuance

Eligible certificates are issued by the authorised Issuer.

  4. Sale

AXIS matches supply with buyers and coordinates transactions.

  5. Redemption

The certificate is redeemed in the buyer’s name and cannot be claimed again.

Understanding renewable certificates
  • A certificate attests the renewable origin of one MWh of electricity.
  • It is tracked in a registry and redeemed on behalf of a buyer.
  • A renewable electricity certificate is distinct from a carbon credit.
Standards and governance

Rights and eligibility

Marketing covers only eligible, lawfully available and uncommitted attributes. It depends on attribute rights, facility eligibility, certification rules and buyer requirements.

Use of certificates

Certificates can support Scope 2 reporting under the market-based method, subject to applicable criteria. They do not, on their own, establish national emissions reductions.

Physical electricity and assets

Valuing renewable attributes is separate from selling physical electricity. It does not, on its own, imply a change in electricity tariffs or a transfer of facilities.

Transparency and governance

Cost, monitoring, reporting and audit arrangements are defined with each partner. Costs taken into account must be actual, justified and auditable. Related-party transactions are declared.

Counterparty checks

Counterparties undergo identity verification and sanctions screening. No payment or benefit may be given to public officials to obtain undue treatment.
